They have never disappeared, but in the last decade the rounded shapes have been noticeably eclipsed. This is now coming to an end: according to American designer Dennis Brackeen, straight lines, right angles and broken borders are being replaced by curved pieces in interior design. According to experts explaining the trends, curved lines are replacing angular shapes, which suggest a sense of control, with a sense of freedom and naturalness. Round tables, cylindrical legs, plump poufs, cosy bumford armchairs and rounded elbow sofas are all making their mark in showrooms and hopefully at exhibitions this year. Comfort above all else – that’s the message of the furniture, and the accessories, rich in organic silhouettes, make this feeling even more evident.
