NORTH sofa

The often forced closure of the past two years has started a trend that looks set to last. One key word is biophilia. Natural and literally alive interiors were not uncommon before, but the pandemic has given a new impetus to the use of plants in the home for decorative purposes.

According to Lisa White, an expert at WGSN, a global consumer, lifestyle and product design trends research company, people have not only moved their living rooms outdoors to the terrace, but also brought nature into their homes. One of the consequences of this two-way process is the emergence of comfortable sofas and armchairs in the garden or on the balcony, of the quality and appearance of the living room but also of weatherproof sofas and armchairs, and of a variety of flora in the home, evoking a green environment. The winter garden is a hit. Where space is at a premium, small greenhouses occupy a sunny corner of the living room with floral and indigo wallpaper and wicker furniture.
