The dining room and laptop on your lap that used to look like an office are now a thing of the past. After the initial shock of quarantine, a rapid, parallel process began in homes and offices.

Homes have seen the emergence of work-friendly corners, which in a thousand ways break up the austere, functionalist furnishings of offices. In smaller urban dwellings, the lack of floor space meant that workrooms without offices had to be found to harmonise the spaces for both work and leisure. According to designer Hilary Matt, the home office will not only stay with us, but will continue to adapt to our needs.

Inside or next to them, there is plenty of storage space, with drawers and cupboards that are ideal for hiding work equipment, technical devices, cords and cords. And for home working, there are also those cosy and instantly recharging micro-offices, where you just take two steps from your office chair to a pouf or sofa.

Some good advice for furnishing your home office

Location: ideally the workspace should be in a quiet part of the home. If you don’t have a whole room to spare, a folding desk will do, for example in a guest room.

Equipment: It’s important to have all the items and furniture you need to work efficiently, but without feeling cluttered.

Storage: Proper storage helps to keep things in their place. It’s a good idea to choose ones that can also serve as decoration.

Colour: Choose calming colours. For example, blue, green and neutral colours. Avoid very bright, energising shades.
