The era of glittering and flashing chandeliers has expired. Instead of a single large light source these days, it is more common to use several smaller lamps that are adapted to the function of the room.

Lighting play a decisive role in our lives. It fundamentally determines our everyday life and mood. It is no coincidence that the Danes, who live with long Scandinavian nights, are masters of warmth at home. Light is also an indispensable “ingredient” of hygge, the famous Danish lifestyle. This is a game with small and large, standing and hanging, guided, practical and moody lamps.

From the living room to the bedroom – what lamp should go where?

The primary function of lighting is to make certain areas of the apartment visible and the lights to provide a comfortable backdrop for your home. That’s why we need a completely different type of lighting in the kitchen, living room or bedroom.

For reading, cooking, working, choose a brighter lamp so as not to force our eyes. The living room or the bedroom creates a pleasant, cozy atmosphere with a well-chosen mood lighting.

In the living room, you should combine standing lamps with ceiling and table lamps. You can create a special mood by lighting a corner or a specific object.

Practicality is the most important thing in the kitchen. Therefore, it is worth looking for a lamp that can illuminate work surfaces important for cooking as accurately as possible and with good control.

The dining room is centered around the dining table. Obviously, this should be illuminated, but not too bright, since the task of the lamp here is to help create a pleasant, intimate atmosphere.

Keep the area around the mirror clear, but be careful not to leave any part of the face in the shade – this is the most important recipe for placing lamps in the bathroom.

And in the bedroom, while the wall and small desk reading lamps are located beside the bed, do not illuminate it! For those who like to lie on the bed and read there, the most practical is the wall lamp, which is more controllable light.

Conquering geometric shapes

Lamps are probably the most characteristic accessories of a home. They are a great way to change it slightly. It is often enough to just swap out the pieces on the main points of the apartment and create a new atmosphere. In the case of a particular character lamp, you may even consider it as a point of reference when purchasing other furniture and accessories. The minimalist approach also prevails in indoor lighting. Simple, clean shapes and colors and functionality – these are the most common aspects.

After the LED fashion wave, warm-light vintage filament pieces once again came to the forefront. These can be especially good if you are looking for a Scandinavian or loft style interior. They highlight industrial design luminaires, but break the harsh metallic effect and fill the space with warm light.

In terms of shapes, geometric pieces prevail, mostly in neutral pastel colors and in the eternal classic, black, as well as the use of raw metals. Brushed surfaces are also very popular because of their elegant effect.

Sizes and layouts offer additional options. Instead of a large, central chandelier, many are choosing more small pieces, for example, above the dining table or to illuminate a corridor. Multiple pendant lights over the coffee table, or in other colors or sizes, can be a very special solution.
