Two years ago, in Cologne, we looked specifically at the need for multifunctionality. It seems that not only furniture, but also rooms, are no longer a thing of the past. The move towards multifunctional spaces is being followed by furniture designers. Easy-to-move armchairs, smaller seating, models that can be used for storage in addition to their basic function, and pieces that can be lifted, turned or folded down will be the hallmarks of the furnishings of 2022. Hello, Multifunctional Spaces!” is how Dwell Magazine hailed the trend that will define 2022. And the crowning glory is furniture that is ‘smart’, that is, designed with both technological needs and other functions in mind.
