Sustainability and naturalness in our interior spaces

“Sustainability and environmental awareness have been among the most talked about concepts for years. It is now perhaps fair to say that it is not just a marketing slogan for more and more manufacturers and distributors” – we said so in our last issue and the situation is unlikely to change in the coming years. According to a survey presented by architecturaldigest. com, 94% of respondents believe that sustainability will continue to dominate our thinking next year.

In the spirit of the 4Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle, and repair – more and more people are trying to reduce their environmental impact, reuse, recycle and repair what they can. In home furnishings, this is reflected in minimalism, the use of raw materials with a small ecological footprint, and changes in the conditions and methods of production, among other things.

The watchword: timelessness

The time of mass-produced products in interior design is, if not yet over, in decline. Quantity is being replaced by quality in an increasingly spectacular way. Of course, improving sustainability is not only about extending the life of the product, but also about increasing the proportion of recycled materials. There are those who are trying to meet sustainability requirements by refurbishing second-hand furniture, but the majority of furniture manufacturers are aiming for timelessness in both material use and style.

Zero is a single coin assembled chair made from 100% recycled composite and is fully recyclable. Each piece is interchangeable, meaning this chair will serve us for generations.

Multifunctionality is one of the foundations of sustainability. Sofa beds are a great solution,
when you want to use your furniture for multiple purposes: relaxing, sleeping and seating guests.

Naturally green

Green continues to dominate the interior colour palette. In keeping with the principle of sustainability, green is probably the leading colour in interior design, with emerald green topping the popularity list in terms of shades, while pastels are also a hit with naturalists.

REEF

Each Reef armchair is made from 100 plastic bottles collected from the sea. Dreamed up in partnership with the SEQUAL community, which is cleaning up the seas of plastic waste, Reef’s unique fabric is made entirely from post-consumer recycled plastic, bottles recovered from the seas or destined for landfill. The upholstery is made from recycled polyurethane foam from waste sofas and mattresses, as well as other production waste from the textile and furniture industries. The Reef is a 100% green armchair, with all elements designed with eco-sustainability and circular economy in mind. It is also available in a sofa version and a matching footrest.
