Bauhaus, the birthplace of modernism, is 100 years old this year. How does this day-to-day architecture and design affect on today’s style even after a hundred years of birth in today’s contemporary home design?

Such and similar questions were discussed in our professional conversation.

Functionalism, clarity, omission of decoration, the prominent appearance of geometric shapes – these are some of the unique features of Bauhaus.

There are some who find it boring and brittle, while others are enthusiastic about it because of its simplicity. What undoubtedly is: as the messenger of the 20th century of modernism, Bauhaus has completely changed the built environment around us.

Although today we can say that Bauhaus is inevitable and occupied a worthy place in architecture and applied arts, it is not an undisputed triumph, but rather a story with a lot of controversy and stagnation.

But the most important thing about Bauhaus is that it has a living and lively effect. The simplicity and practicality of modern and up-to-date architecture are displayed, but there are traces of contemporary designers looking for timeless forms in the works of designers who perceive clarity as aesthetic element.

This year’s one hundred-year-old Bauhaus will not age. In 2019, we can say that in the coming decades we can always hope for renewed, more beautiful, round birthday.
